Salgados Lagoon (half-day)
The bird life at Salgados Lagoon can change from hour to hour and this marvelous place is always worth a visit. Also often referred to as “Pêramarsh”, this wetland is one of the birdwatching hot-spots in the region. More than 50 species are easy to spot in this area, during a couple of hours, including Greater Flamingos, Spoonbills, Avocets and Black-winged Stilts are regular, Purple Swamphen, Collared Pratincole, Little Terns, Kentish Plovers and Short-toed Lark breed. During migration, various wader-species roost, as well as flocks of Gulls, Terns and also Glossy Ibis. Bluethroats and spanish sparrow overwinter. Rare vagrants can often be found here as well, namely Richard's Pipit or Wood Sandpiper. An amaizing place for a special afternoon birdwatching tour!
