Sagres Peninsula (full-day)
The Sagres Peninsula forms the south-western tip of continental Europe. The ocean breaks against the shear sea-cliffs, the rocky plateaus are covered by plants that resemble alpine vegetation, among them many endemic species. Shags, Red-billed Choughs and Peregrine Falcons are among the typical breeders among the birds. Passerine species include the Blue Rock-Thrush, Dartford Warbler and Tawny Pipit. Further inland, Little Bustard, Stone Curlew and Spectacled Warbler occur. The region is most know as a hot-spot for bird migration. Particularly during late summer
and autumn, raptors like Honey Buzzards, Black Kites, Short-toed Eagles, Booted Eagles or Egyptian Vultures may show up in good numbers. The cape is also one of the best places for seawatching in the Iberian Peninsula, Cory's- and Balearic Shearwaters are regular. In this great place, during a migration season, more than 70 species can be record here in one day!
