Parque Natural
Do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina

The Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park stretches along a narrow strip of coastline between S. Torpes (Sines) and Burgau (Vila do Bispo), 110 kilometres long, with a total area of around 131,000 hectares.

The Costa Vicentina, as this region is known, corresponds to a sea-land border area with very unique characteristics that give it a high level of landscape diversity, including various habitats that support a high level of biodiversity, both floral and faunal.

Among the most notable features are the presence of various floristic endemisms, such as the Thymus Canphoratus or the Plantago Almogravensis, the presence of the Otter and the fact that it is the main migratory corridor in Portugal for large gliding birds, particularly birds of prey.
