We are part of the "European Network for Sustainable Tourism"

Proactivetur recently joined a European network made up of more than 30 tour operators from various countries, created with the aim of promoting and developing more sustainable and responsible tourism.

The "European Network for Sustainable Tourism" brings together professionals from countries such as Italy, Germany, France, Austria and Spain and aims to generate synergies between them and with European institutions in order to promote more harmonious forms of travel in relation to environmental, social and cultural issues. One of the network's first events is an international conference on sustainable tourism, to be held on 21 April, with the institutional support of Turismo de Portugal, taking advantage of the fact that Portugal is chairing the European Union and that this is the European Year of the Rail.

Among the topics to be addressed at the event are various issues associated with the environmental sustainability of tourism, reducing the ecological footprint of travel, promoting the use of trains, territorial cohesion, measuring the local impact of sustainable tourism and the Faro Convention and how culture and tourism should be linked.

The conference will feature the chair of the TRAN Parliamentary Committee - responsible for the European Year of the Train - several MEPs, researchers from various universities and practical case studies. Participation is free and will take place online at the European Network for Sustainable Tourism website.
