Baixo Guadiana
The Lower Guadiana is a territory in the eastern Algarve that is, for the most part, limited by natural geographical barriers: to the north by the Vascão stream; to the east by the Guadiana river and to the south by the Atlantic Ocean.
A great pedestrian route, the Grande Rota do Guadiana (GR15), which is approximately 65 kilometres long, connects Alcoutim to Castro Marim and Vila Real de António, and is characterised by its many landscapes, historical, heritage and natural elements.
From the beaches in the south to the mountainous landscapes in the north, contact with the River Guadiana and historic towns such as Alcoutim are some of the points of interest here.
