He use to joined his father in hunting sessions, but it backfired. From his time in nature, he developed a passion for the wild world, particularly birds.
"The Birds" (by Lars Janson) was the title of the first book he read to satisfy his curiosity. Many others followed, but it was in the countryside, observing the fauna, that he was able to collect his knowledge. 
Later, after moving to the Algarve, he got to know the Salgados Lagoon and that's where he spends his free time, observing and keeping an eye on a habitat he considers precious. It was only a short step from there to guiding birdwatching field trips 12 years ago.
